I was in Barnes and Noble a few months ago, just browsing, when this woman who was a stranger to me just starting talking and telling me random things about herself, her life, and her family. I thought, oh God, how do I get away from this person…until I realized she was very interesting and had quite a few stories to share! I listened for a few minutes and then we went our separate ways.
Well, I ran into her again today. It took me a few minutes to recall how she was familiar, where I had seen her before, and what our interaction had been. But I knew we had encountered each other before. She is very memorable for a lot of reasons!
She is tattooed and pierced from head to toe like nobody’s business for starters. But this really doesn’t shock us anymore, expect for the fact that she is in her seventies.
This woman is sick and has a fatal disease. She is dying and she knows it! She has lived an incredibly rich life and she is grateful for every minute. She finds joy and humor in the little things and is fighting every step of the way. I am so inspired by her will.
I am hoping to photograph her to help share the stories.
